Nanban: A friend for the 3 idiots indeed.

Making a remake of movie as such is a gamble and when you talk about remake of a successful movie it raises the bar even more. First when i heard of the remake of 3 idiots, i was like who in their right minds would want to risk that. A number of movies have been remade from other languages and if you have watched the original one its tough to stop comparing the remake to the original.  Nanban in particular falls in this category since its a scene by scene remake, however when i watched the movie i felt that they have done enough justice to the original . When one makes a movie, there are no boundaries however on a remake of such scale, one has to tread on a fine line. You over do it and get criticised for screwing up a good story and if ones fall short can be shotdown saying the same. Shankar as a director has done a brilliant job kudos to him for sticking to the original story line and most importantly for keeping his creativity under check.

Lead actors have also done a good job, its nice to see Vijay sans his heroics and punch dialogues. Jeeva fits the bill perfectly, however Srikant not so much. Satyaraj delivering english dialogues as part of his speech is alright. Illeana is a sore thumb, agreed she looks hot and nice but Kareena had something that she lacks. For the same screen time shared by both the actresses, Illeana falls short probably because the songs are a HUGE letdown. What was Harris smoking when he composed the tunes? Special mention to Sathyan as Silencer  (Chattur in 3 idiots), his acting is commendable and brings out the humor just like the original.

Agreed Nanban is a remake of 3 idiots and 90 percent of those who have watched it might feel this is no better thnt the original. My take is, Shankar has not attempted to make it better but just recreate an AS-IS version of the movie and has been successful in the attempt. On a optimistic scenario, i assume maximum of 10-15% of people in Tamil Nadu would have watched 3 Idiots and for the rest this would be as good any new movie. I would rate amongst the recent tamil movies Nanban is definitely must watch. Wholesome family entertainer and a perfect example of an honest and successful attempt at remaking a popular movie.

If i want to be picky, its the character who commits suicide again music is to blame. Give me some sunshine song is a major differentiating factor between these two movies.

Tree of Love

One we made out of our love
Closer we are the greener it was

now i see them with no leaves
for they withered for every moment i missed you

seasons change, people change but not our love
for every day i missed you, tree jus grew bigger and stronger
Now i see little green leaves
for i know you will be with me soon

Missing you Badly, Loving you fondly
dont wanna be lonely no more
a promise i make is a promise i keep
Will keep you happy eternally
for i love you with my whole heart
like No one ever has....
or No one ever will......
My Precious

Ode to Mumbai's Resilience

Remember remember the twenty sixth of November
Hotels, Hospitals and Station bathed in innocent blood.
Guns on their hands and bombs in their bags
Calm and poised striking fear in everyones hearts
Until they were flushed out by brave hearts
I know of reason why such brazen actions
Should ever be forgot...............

A Wednesday:: I know the title is Cliche but it cannot be more apt

26th Nov 2008, A Day Not to FOrget and FOrgive

Attacks on Mumbai were not just a whimsical thought of some brazen group of men but a meticulously planned and in fact well executed. Well the response has not been below par either, the question still remains is what are WE going to do about it from now on? Wake up People Smell the Carnage and Mayhem. Can’t we smell the splattered blood all over our Nation? I am sure one of you is asking me can’t smell it?, just remove your mask and smell it. It stinks not of blood but of those bloody swine who have thought that they can walk away leaving their shit behind.

How did they? Thanks to our so called system (where money is the password to get out), and our wonderful politicians turning blind eye to such things and focussing on more impending issues such as to get rid of North Indians out of state or beating up people on valentine’s day. If they had not such impending issues to attend they might be interested to thwart terrorism. Well i can go on and on about this forever. Oh my i forgot to mention Human Rights, Wow what service they do to humanity? Innocent civilians can get die but not a rapist, murderer or terrorist. When Notorious personalities are killed, a chill runs down their spine and they get all excited and vehement about the act of killing a thing that’s not worth wasting govt taxes on.

With such support no wonder India is a hotspot destination for such Terrorist Fucks, I say Kill EM ALL Burn Them Down, cut their privates and feed them to dogs. When they do capture one alive don’t keep them alive for long, chop chop.

Some may see as an angry rant others may think as lunatics blabber. Am sure there are plenty of us with such pent up anger. All i can do is express in my blog

Let’s not do the usual and shrug it of as another day in our life, make a scar in its name and let there be no more. United We Stand, United We Kick Some Terrorist Ass
